What We Do

What started out as a curiosity to explore, turned into a concept to change the world.

Our Mission

Summits for Serotonin was founded on the premise of being able to help people create better connections with themselves through the power of connecting with nature. Being immersed in the outdoors and escaping off the grid where your only priorities are the essentials: food, water and shelter. The challenges presented in the great outdoors can be our greatest teachers and help us overcome even the hardest mental blocks. Learning what you are capable of doing and pushing the boundaries of your mindset, overcoming the unknowns of the back country will only increase your beliefs in yourself and what you are capable of.

“Don’t be afraid to dream big. It doesn't matter where you come from. You can show the world that nothing is impossible. ”

— Nimsdai Purja

What We’ve Achieved | What we are trying to do

  • Raised over $3,000 to help create more accessible counselling for those who struggle with mental health in Alberta

  • Inspire People to overcome their preconceived fears of failure and encourage them to follow their dreams.

  • So far we have been able to fund 3 back country mental health retreats a year, along with multiple free community out door events

  • We have cleaned up over 500lbs of trash of the Edmonton trail system

  • Raise over $1,000,000 for subsidized counselling across Canada.

  • Provide people with an opportunity to experience the back country in the deepest most therapeutic way we know how.

  • Bring the community together in a time of division and help people experience a true gratitude for the life we are given.

WE GIVE 100%

100% of all the donations we receive supports our recipient cause. Our board members are not paid and volunteer all their time and effort. All funds go to the projects current initiatives. We also fund ourselves. Zero dollars from the project will go to paying for the Explorers Grand Slam Project. The Expeditions will be paid out of pockets and with the help of our sponsors.

About Our Recipient Charity: Cornerstone Counselling

Cornerstone Counselling is a registered charity located in Edmonton, Alberta that exists to ensure that people—especially those from lower-income households—have access to professional psychological services during their time of greatest need. We do this by:

1. Healing It Forward: Cornerstone Counselling operates on a social enterprise model. This means your personal healing journey has a direct impact on our community's mental health. How does it work?

  • Clients who have employment-based private health insurance plans or gross household incomes of $100,000 or more pay $200 per session, as recommended by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta.

  • Any “profit” within these fees is directed to our Way to Wellness Fund. This Fund helps subsidize the cost of professional counselling (of up to 90%) for clients in lower-income households.

  • Currently, 69% of our clients receive counselling fee subsidies.

2. Fundraising: To continue offering hope, healing, and recovery throughout our community, we also rely on the generous and compassionate support of individual donors and supporters, foundations, granting agencies, churches, and businesses. These collective efforts make our Way to Wellness subsidies possible.

When you choose Cornerstone Counselling, a portion of your counselling fee goes directly towards supporting others. Together, we can help you on your healing journey and make counselling more accessible in our community.
